Over 100,000 Christians added their name to our petition in order to end the violence and head off a massive humanitarian crisis in South Sudan:

After more than two years of armed conflict in South Sudan, hundreds of thousands of God's children have had to flee their homes and more than half the country does not have enough food to eat.  As American Christians, we pray that our leaders will take bold action to ensure peace is realized in South Sudan by doing everything in their diplomatic power to stop the flow of weapons and ammunition that are fueling the violence and ensuring those who stand in the way of peace are held accountable.

The petition was delivered at a congressional hearing on S. Sudan and Rep. Chris Smith (R-New Jersey), Chairman of the Subcommittee on Africa, Global Human Rights, and International Organizations, recognized the signatures and their significance during the hearing, and entered them into official public record. This played a key role in influencing members of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee to voice their support for the arms embargo.
