“As Christians, we believe that all life is sacred, we affirm that all creation is interconnected in a vital web of relationships, and we actively heed God’s call to be responsible stewards of creation.
The psalmist writes, “The earth is the Lord’s and all that is in it, the world, and those who live in it.” Our national monuments, parks, and lands reflect that truth as some of the most special gifts bestowed on America by our Creator. These treasured places must remain open for the use and enjoyment of all Americans, as a reflection of the sacred trust bestowed on our nation and reminders to all of God’s grandeur and majesty.
Any attempt to degrade or diminish our national monuments & parks would deny the gift God has freely given to all Americans—gifts we a charged to both enjoy and hold in trust for future generations.
We owe it to our children and grandchildren to leave them a planet teeming with beauty and bountiful resources. Secretary Zinke’s and Senator Heller’s faith and oath as leaders to serve the American people places a special responsibility on them to care for the natural gifts God has bestowed on our nation and state. So we ask them to commit to being responsible stewards of these blessings, ensuring the decisions they make protect the special natural spaces God created in Nevada for the enjoyment and health of generations to come.”
